Driving Courses

All driving courses are held in Tallinn.
Below you will find a brief overview of the requirements and steps to start your training for each category.

B-category

A-category

Course Information (Category B)

Training vehicle:
Passenger car with a registered mass of up to 3,500 kg

Theory training volume (including e-learning):
30 × 45 minutes

Practical driving training volume:
28 × 45 minutes

Minimum age to start training:
15.5 years

Minimum course duration:
4 weeks

Training vehicles:
Toyota, BMW, Toyota (automatic transmission)


Theory Training

Theory lessons take place both in the classroom and via e-learning.

When choosing e-learning, 6 × 45 minutes of the total theory training must be completed in the classroom, where we cover topics required by the national curriculum and discuss questions that arise together with the instructor.

The theory course concludes with a school theory exam conducted in the Liikluslab environment.
The number of correct answers required to pass the exam is equivalent to the national theory exam requirements.


E‑Learning Platforms

We use the following e-learning platforms:

  • Liikluslab.ee
  • E‑driving school of the Estonian Driving Instructors’ Association

Access to both platforms is provided free of charge to all our students.


Training Facilities

Our classroom is located in Tallinn, Pärnu mnt 41a, 2nd floor.
All theory exams and required interim assessments also take place at this location.


Practical Driving Training

According to the national curriculum, a minimum of 28 driving lessons is required for all students.
One lesson equals 45 minutes (academic hour).

If additional lessons are needed, students may book as many extra lessons as required until vehicle control is fully confident and the student is ready for the national driving exam, meaning all required learning outcomes have been achieved.

Category A (Motorcycle)

Requirements to start training:

  • Minimum age: 24 years.
  • Prerequisite: Must hold a valid Category B, C, or D driving licence (Note: holders of an initial/provisional licence are not eligible).
  • Upgrade option: Holders of a Category A2 licence for at least 2 years.

Privileges:
Right to drive a motorcycle with an engine power exceeding 50 kW.


Category A2 (Motorcycle)

Requirements to start training:

  • Minimum age: 17.5 years.
  • Prerequisite: Individuals who already hold a driving licence.
  • Note: Individuals without a prior driving licence can also apply for Category A2 (please note that this involves a larger volume of study/lessons).

Privileges:
Right to drive a motorcycle with an engine power not exceeding 35 kW.


E-Learning and Theory Exam

We use the following e-learning platforms:

  • Liikluslab.ee
  • E-driving school of the Estonian Driving Instructors’ Association

Access to these platforms is provided free of charge to all our students.

The theory course concludes with a school theory exam in the Liikluslab environment. The number of correct answers required to pass is equivalent to the national exam requirements.

Final-Stage course

Initial-Stage Skid Control Training

The part of the basic Category B course


Course Content

  • Eco-friendly, safe, and considerate driving mindset: Behavior in slippery road conditions (2 theory lessons).
  • Skid control risk avoidance workshop: (1 practical lesson).
  • Advanced eco-friendly and risk-avoiding driving: Deepening the safe and considerate driving style (1 driving lesson).
  • Skid control risk avoidance exercises on the track: (1 driving lesson). These exercises are conducted on a specialized skid pad available year-round.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation must be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled training.

Initial-Stage Skid Control Training

To obtain a driving licence for Category B or Subcategory B1, students must complete skid control training as part of the initial stage of basic driver training.

The initial-stage skid control training consists of:

  • Two theory lessons
  • One practical driving lesson

Upon successful completion of the training, the instructor will make the appropriate entry in the student’s study card (learning record).

First Aid Training

Night Driving Training

First Aid Training

According to Section 100 of the Traffic Act, every applicant for an initial driving licence must complete a first aid training course. The total volume of the training is 16 hours.

Course Structure at Testudo:

  • Theory: The theory part is completed independently via e-learning before the practical session. Study materials will be sent directly to your email.
  • Practical Session: A 2-hour practical session takes place in the classroom, concluding with a final test.

The initial-stage night driving training is a mandatory additional course for all Category B driving licence applicants. The training consists of:

  • One workshop lesson
  • One practical driving lesson

Both lessons are conducted using a driving simulator located at Mustamäe tee 4, Tallinn.

Registration:
Pre-registration is required at www.simulaator.ee.

Requirements for the session:
Please bring your study card (learning record) and a valid ID to the training session.

General Training Information

Completing the training modules in the volumes and conditions described above is mandatory for obtaining the corresponding driving licence category.

  • Parallel Training: It is possible to complete Category A1 or A2 and Category B training simultaneously.
  • Theory Platform: For both categories, the main theory part is completed via the Liikluslab e-learning environment.
  • First Aid: First aid training is conducted in cooperation with HK Driving School.
  • Skid Control: Both initial and final-stage skid control training take place on a specialized skid pad that is available year-round.
  • Course Completion: Category A, B, and BE courses conclude with a school theory exam and a final driving assessment.
